One night in 1999 I was
on a late night shopping excursion for my toy collecting habbit,
and I stumbled through the computer games section. I spied
a title called DTR. At the time I had a small laptop with
a 486mhz chip, but I picked up the box and began to read. Well there on that box
opened up a world to me I thought I had left behind me in my childhood.
My Father used to take us to the local (45 miles away) dirt
tracks in West Virginia, and to Skyline Speedway in Stewart Ohio
so that we could see the sprints.
This was when late models
had steel bodies, and sprints had plywood wings, and both sideboards
were set at the same height.. (telling my age now.) I grew
up watching great drivers such as Harold
Redman, Tye Long, Tommy Dixon, George Harbour.
I was working with a friend
of mine in the pits once and a while, when Mike and Mark Balzano
were still running the semi-late model class at Ohio
Valley, Jackson County Speedway
Over time, and various
computer purchases and rebuilds, and just flat out building a system
to run DTR and DTR-SC. I am now in Heaven. Painting
cars, Making Tracks, and just flat out Racing!!
